About Alaska Sound Celebration
Alaska Sound Celebration is a membership organization of women singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun. We currently have over 50 singers of all ages, from all walks of life, from all parts of the Anchorage area as well as Wasilla, Palmer and other areas of the Mat-Su Valley.
Performance
Alaska Sound Celebration is Alaska's premier women's a cappella chorus. We are proud to be part of Anchorage's vibrant arts community. As well as our own annual Fall Show "Celebrate the Music", we are best known for being the creative force behind the highly successful Fur Rondy Melodrama. A popular part of the annual Fur Rendezvous Festival in the Anchorage, the Melodrama is written, produced and stars members of Alaska Sound Celebration. We also love sing every year at the Alaska State Fair,
We are available to sing at your next function or event. If you're looking for a unique musical experience to liven up your event, please check out our Hire Us section.
Education
In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a cappella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals and a very important component of the chorus experience. Despite the traveling distances required we are thrilled to get to work with some of the top names in barbershop. We fly coaches to Alaska at least twice a year for special coaching sessions and retreats.
Competition
In the spring of every year, Alaska Sound Celebration participates in the Region 13 chorus competition usually held in Spokane, WA. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to sing for each other, and get some constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories get to travel to International Competition, which is held in the fall in a city selected each year. We are honored to have won the Division AA Competition this past May in Spokane, WA. This win allows ASC to compete in the Harmony Classic International Competition in 2025 at Columbus, OH.
